Ringin’ in a whole new Era!
WHAT a year 2014 was and what a whole new Era 2015 is going to be!!! Sooo many wild and interesting storylines from both sides of the “Pond” last year and a ton of exciting new endeavors shaping up for this year…… and you can bet that SuperMotoOnlilne is going to be right in the middle of it all!! Last year it was Jeff Ward battling all the way down to the last race with eventual #1 plate winner, Mark Burkhart in the Premier/450 class…….the incredible Lites war between David Pingree and Brandon Currie…….Aprilia’s super successful first year in the Unlimited class…….In Europe a year long battle in both the S1…(450) and S2….(250) classes in the FIM with both titles going to the Azzalin Husqvarna team. Along the way, over there, we saw an array of tracks and great racing including a historic first, a brand new, purpose built, ALL pavement, circuit in Pleven, Bulgaria. A veritable collage of stories to be told over and over!!
I’ll have a review of 2014 in the next couple days along with news from a new team that’ll be racing in both the FIM and AMA so stay tuned to SMO for the latest in what’s up with Supermoto racing worldwide!
And speakin’ of Supermoto Racing and Worldwide recognition……the original King of AMA Supermoto, Jeff Ward, went out like he came in, as a winner, and the 2008 season will certainly be the start of a “new” day here in the USA. Wardy did more than any one single person to help make a sport, previously unknown outside the hardcore enthusiast, recognizable and instantly legitimate with his individual star-power and reputation. With “Wardy” now retired, it’s time for the AMA and the sport/series that is Supermoto to come into it’s own in a big way, and all of us that follow, report, ride, race it, know that with the proper promotion and exposure it WILL not only continue to grow, but should BLOW UP!!
Yes indeedy, it IS the off-season……. but there are some things goin’ on…… Received some photos from the AMA Championship Banquet in Vegas of the Aprilia boys getting their #1 Plate officially…..as well as some photos of Ben Carlson’s and Darryl Atkin’s bikes at the Long Beach Motorcycle Show.
Happy New Year from all of us to all of you in SupermotoLand!
