Ulster Supermoto Championship Round #2: Nutt's Corner: Market Track

Sunday 15th May 2011

Round two of the Ulster championship took place this Sunday at a wet and rather wintery-feeling Nutt’s Corner Market Track.

First to tackle the tricky conditions were the supermoto quads where Cathal McCartan would attempt to defend his great start to the season having won all three

races at the previous meeting. However, leading from start to finish, Aaron Ebbitt...(pictured above) was able to gap the Carrickmore rider McCartan to score maximum points in race one.

Race two and three saw Ebbitt taking a clear lead over McCartan. Ebbitt is now on the move in the leader board in sixth with McCartan still leading the championship

with Emma Mackin and Brother Terence in second and third in the championship respectively.

In the solo clubman class, championship leader Lee Walker repeated his successful qualifying from round one with another pole position. In race one Walker

had a great start, as did Mark Todd, but were passed in the last lap by Andy Forsberg...(pictured at right) who took the win. Race two saw things going the way Walker wanted to with another

win to his name. For the final race of the day for the clubman’s, Walker and Todd pushed Forsberg hard all the way to the line but couldn’t find a way past before the

chequered flag.

The newly sponsored C-more Flying School Prestige class got underway with race one being run in treacherous conditions. Barry Murphy took the early lead in

race one but was passed by the eventual winner Philip Wylie....(#7 pictured above).  Hot on his heels for all three races was Mark Spratt who ended his day with three second place finishes. The

final step of the podium was contended for right to the line between Bruce Drummond and Barry Murphy. Drummond took third in races one and two, with

Murphy finishing third in race three.

Championship standings: Supermoto Quads: C McCartan 141 points, E Mackin 104, T Mackin 93. Solo Clubman’s: L Walker 137, A Forsberg 112, M Todd 105. Solo Prestige: P Wylie 131, M Spratt 114, B Drummond 99.
